Short directions: PenguinVPN Travel Router with 4G & Wireless Connections

1. Download the travel-router-configuration-for-librecmc-6.x.tar.gz.

2. Screw on the antennas to the TPE-R1300, connect the USB power cable, connect a TPE-USB4G2US USB 4G modem to the USB-A port on the router (don't forget to insert an activated SIM card), and then connect an ethernet cable from the LAN port on the router to an ethernet port on the PC.

3. Then open the browser, go to the following address, and log into a clean TPE-R1300 wireless router (reset under System > Backup / Flash Firmware if you need to reset it):

4. Go to System > Backup / Flash Firmware

5. Click the Upload archive... button and select the travel-router-configuration-for-librecmc-6.x.tar.gz and upload it

6. Give the router 90 seconds to reboot

7. On the PC disconnect from and reconnect to the network

8. Log in at the new router address with the default password of 'none' without the quotes:

9. Go to Network > Interfaces

10. Click the Edit button for the wwan0 interface

11. In the APN box enter the APN for your cellular provider

12. Click the Save button

13. Click the Edit button for the WGINTERFACE

14. Copy the Private Key for your PenguinVPN subscription into the Private Key box

15. Copy the Public Key for your PenguinVPN subscription into the Public Key box

16. Click the Peers tab

17. Click the Edit button

18. Copy the Public Key for your PenguinVPN subscription into the Public Key box

19. Copy the Private Key for your PenguinVPN subscription into the Private Key box

20. Copy the PresharedKey for your PenguinVPN subscription into the Preshared Key box

21. Click the Save button

22. Click the Save button again

23. Click the Save & Apply button

To test this configuration go to System > Reboot and click the Perform reboot button.

You should now be able to connect a TPE-USB4G2US USB 4G modem after the router is booted and it'll then automatically connect to the 4G service, followed by connecting to the VPN. You can also connect to a wifi hotspot from Network > Wireless and Network > Interfaces if you prefer to use a hotel's wifi. You have up to 3 minutes to click through the captive portal. Upon the router detecting a full internet connection it'll automatically bring up the VPN.
